Handsome Cycles is coming to the MIA

In honor of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts' 100th anniversary, bike shop Handsome Cycles is teaming up with the museum on a project featuring art and retail.

This Thursday's free Bike Night party will mark the launch of the partnership. During festivities — which include live music, beer, and activities and info from cycling organizations — the museum will unveil three art bikes that will become part of the permanent collection. The pieces take inspiration from works on display at the museum, including paintings by Claude Monet and Frank Stella, as well as the 1948 Tatra T87 Sedan in the gallery.

In addition to art bikes on display, later this summer Handsome Cycles and the MIA's gift shop will be selling a line of bikes inspired by the museum, designed by two local bike companies.
